Crosses for Resurrection Day #11

Image
Hello Needle Felter Explorers,   SUNDAY'S a coming .   Today is just days away from Resurrection Sunday this year 2026, so we will be looking at needle felted crosses ✝️ onto various items. Cookie cutter crosses (the above photo) are very easy to make and to embellish with dyed curly locks which look like flowers once stabbed in. Jesus is called the "Rose 🌹 of Sharon" in the Bible, just one of His many names.  I love the royal purple robe draped across the cross ✝️ because Jesus is king of kings 🤴 ROYALTY 👑   Rose of Sharon (a name for Jesus Christ) & a cross ✝️ are shown on this one egg (front & back).  I believe these were made on egg 🥚 shaped polystyrene ovals or you can needle felt the egg shape on a wool oval you make. A Cross ✝️ on a heart ❤️  Reminds me of the greatest love ever shown. Sunday has arrived : Matt. 28:7 Thanks for coming along on this adventure, God Bless.   Romans 12:2 ... but be transformed by t...

Lambs for Resurrection Day #10

Image
Hello Fellow Needle Felter Explorers,  What a glorious day is coming "Resurrection Sunday" (many know it as Easter). The Lamb of God, Jesus who was slain inorder for us to be reconciled to God. Thank you Jesus. 5" hoops  The above 2D hoop wool paintings were felted onto a piece of sheet felt (approx. 25 cents for a full sheet, some use  wool felt sheets which cost quite a bit more). Cut the felt background sheet larger than the hoop and lightly pencil the circle shape on it. Now take thin wisps of wool for your background (I used blue, but you could use sunset colors) and with your multi-tool stab in. Make the body by stabbing curly wool lamb locks in an oval shape. Next make the black lamb head & ears (NO eyes needed) on your mat separately. Felt the head into the body. Hopefully you remembered to leave enough room for words. I used flathead nails for the legs, you could use twigs or felt them in. I used an awl to make holes for the nail legs and than glued t...

Making a Trinity Brooch / Three Leaf Clover #9

Image
Hello Fellow Needle Felter Explorers,   Today we will be first talking about Saint Patrick and what the 3 leaf clover meant to him. Second you can get details on how to make a Trinity (3 Leaf Clover) Brooch.  Patrick, before he became a preacher/Saint, as a boy in England was captured and taken to Ireland to be a slave. He later escaped and went back to England where he learned about Jesus and was saved. He then went back to Ireland to teach the Irish people whom he loved, about God in a simple way "Father, Son & Holy Ghost (Spirit)". So he utilized their homelands 3 leaf clover ☘️. THREE in ONE (3 in 1), Trinity .   3 hearts are put together vs cookie cutter Shamrock ☘️(I do not have the cookie cutter).    Materials you will need minus the Shamrock cookie cutter (use it if you have it):  *1 1/2 " (1" also works well) heart-shaped cookie cutter (or freehand) *Green felt to cut out heart backing for brooch *Brooch pin (comes in packs) *Ba...

2D Bluebird Pillow #8

Image
Hello Needle Felter Explorers,  With springtime quickly approaching I love cherry 🌸 blossoms & bluebirds appearing in our yard in NC (spotted my first bluebird in late February 2026 this year, wow).  Washington DC's cherry 🍒 blossom 🌸 festival for 2026 (our nation's 250th anniversary) is March 20 - April 16th (predicting Peak to be March 29th - April 1st, 4 days). I have never gone but would love too. This is a freehand pillow I made on a case that my dryerballs from Walmart came in. One side has cloth and the other is a zippered plastic.  By freehand I mean:  *I used my transfer pen from Living Felt to place the photo design on the cloth side of the bag/pillow. *I used a small foam pad in-between the case for stabbing (38 needle intially and a multi-tool filled with 42's for a smoother finish) the design. *I NF (38 needle) the bluebird and the tree branches directly into the fabric side of the pillow. *I used blue and pink wisps of wool for the blurry s...

Believe in the Process #7

Image
Hello Needle Felter Explorers, Here's some cuteness 😍 overload Sleeping Mouse 🐁   This weeks blog has to do with believing in / respecting the process. What does that mean ?    Process in the Webster Dictionary means "A series of actions or steps taken inorder to achieve a particular end/goal."    I was trying to make a unicorn 🦄 head for the first time, it turned into a Mallard duck head. It's front was long and skinny which equaled a ducks bill, when I looked at it. My 2nd try turned into the unicorn (above photo) head. It is rounder (ball shaped) with a shorter oval added to the front for it's mussel, than the gap was covered over. See the difference in the two above photos? The completed Unicorn 🦄 Head   When I first started NF while watching a YouTuber (Sarafina Fiber Arts) she was making a sleeping mouse 🐁, mine ended up looking like a mule (I made the head too square and long). The ears were also too big and placed in the wrong...

2D Wool Painting Kits #6

Image
Hello Needle Felter Explorers,  There is so much you can do with needle felting: animal sculptures, head plaques, wreaths, magnets, keychain, ornaments, jewelry, wool paintings and more. You can paint with wool? YES.  An easy way to start is to buy a pre-made kit. Best kits to buy are from individual private companies (see below) not Amazon, Temu, or Hobby Lobby (quality of materials are not as good, and instructions are usually limited).  This fuzzy bunny 🐰 🐇  is from a kit by Living Felt (Texas based company). Kits made by individual small companies (USA based ones are:  Liongate Farms, Noom Old Schoolhouse, Living Felt  & Sarafina  just to name a few) are the best. Better quality wools, fabrics, needles, instructions, and accessories. More expensive (but worth it). Other accessories needed to make this 2D bunny was a hoop, the Living Felt fur comb (pictured below) and an iron-on Transfer Pen (comes in several colors, I have the black)....

Making a Unicorn Head Wall Plaque #5

Image
Hello Needle Felter Explorers,   This weeks needle felted (NF) project deals with a step by step look at how I made a multi-colored unicorn 🦄 head for one of my great nieces, Lilah.  STICK TO THE PROCESS ,  even when it looks like something else at first. Keep going. In these above photos I knotted a piece of core wool into a small ball and NF. Add more core wool to make a larger ball and continue needle felting. Take a 12" core slithers, knot it and NF to make an oblong piece. Attach the oblong piece to the lower portion of the ball. The 2 pieces are together.  Take a 6" piece of wool and NF over the gap between the ball and oblong piece. The head shaped piece (ovalish). 8. The above photos here start with the head shaped piece. I used a single 36 gauge needle & a 7 multi-tool needle holder with 40 gauge (finer needles) to shape the head. 9. I added 7mm black glass eyes using an awl. GLUED them in. Than I took thin slithers that I first rolled in my ...
